The first edition, reproducing Pollock’s three earliest extant sketchbooks. Dating mainly from the late 1930s, the original sketchbooks were acquired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1990. The three facsimile volumes are accompanied by a text volume in an edition limited to 500 copies (this is copy #2).
Four vols (various sizes, 280 x 205mm to 315 x 460mm). Spiralbound and printed wrappers; publisher’s slipcase.
