PROPERTY FROM THE COLLECTION OF LI KWAN-HA AND LI MA KUNGUANG (LOTS 1512-1536)Li Kwan-Ha, born in Hong Kong, was the first ethnic Chinese to serve as the Commissioner of Police in Hong Kong from 1989 to 1994. After retirement, he continued to serve various important positions, such as a member of the HKSAR Preparatory Committee and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.Li befriended many artists, including several Beijing artists during his tenure supporting the government, and received many paintings and calligraphy from them directly. His wife was also a vivid supporter of Chinese paintings. She studied Chinese paintings under Zhao Shao’ang in 1988, and received many works and sketches from the artist directly.
