La famille Civilotti est connue comme bijoutiers à Rome, du milieu à la fin du 19ème siècle. Antonio Civilotti joaillier de talent est connu pour ses bijoux dans le style Étrusque et le style néo-Renaissance à la façon de Castellani. Giuseppe Civilotti, graveur sur pierre, ouvre une bijouterie Place di Spagna où il vend les bijoux réalisés par Antonio. Sa boutique est mentionnée dans de nombreux guides de Rome à partir des années 1850. A cette époque, Rome est un arrêt incontournable pour les voyageurs du Grand Tour et les bijoux en micomosaïque sont des souvenirs luxueux et raffinés très en vogue. The Civilotti family were known as jewelers from the mid-19th century to the end of the century in Rome. Antonio Civilotti was a renowned goldsmith, notorious for his works in the Etruscan revival and neo-renaissance styles, in the manner of Castellani. His relative, Giuseppe Civilotti, was a gem engraver and opened a jewellery shop Piazza di Spagna where he was selling pieces made by Antonio. His store was mentioned in many guides of Rome from the 1850's on. At this time, Rome was one of the most important stop of travellers on the Grand Tour and a micromosaic jewellery was a sought-after, refined and luxurious souvenir.
