The Pagoda model was made in 1997 to commemorate the inauguration of Patek Philippe's new watchmaking center in Geneva. The present watch is celebrated because of its unusual case design, a curved rectangular shape with angular flared lugs and concave sides. Named the 'Pagoda', the case back is engraved; COMMEMORATION, 1997, PAGODA'.

Reference 5500 was produced in a limited edition of 1100 examples in 18k yellow gold, 500 in 18k pink gold, 250 in 18k white gold and only 150 in platinum such as the present example
