The green malachite dial of the present watch perfectly complements the boldly designed white gold case resulting in an extremely beautiful, opulent yet understated timepiece.

Reference 3634, the Grande Ellipse, was manufactured only for a short period between about 1974 and 1978. Few examples were made, mostly in yellow or pink gold, with different dial and bracelet styles.

This watch is an early example of the reference with the rarer white gold case and believed to be one of only three examples of this model with green malachite dial to have appeared in public to date. It is furthermore preserved in very good overall condition.

Caliber 28-255
Generally agreed to be one of the great watch calibers, it was based on the original Jaeger-LeCoultre caliber 920 of 1967 and regarded as one of the most beautiful and refined automatic movements ever produced. With a thickness of only 3.15 mm., it is perfect for slim and elegant watches. Most famously, it is the same movement caliber used in the iconic Nautilus model from its launch in 1976.
