Helen Bradley (1900-1979)
On a Warm Spring Afternoon
signed 'HELEN BRADLEY' (lower right), inscribed 'On a warm spring afternoon Grandma said "Let me take all these crumbs and go to the Park and feed the Ducks". George and I loved going to the Park, besides all the trees and flowers and Ducks, there was also The Lake and in the Summer there was quite a big boat taking people for a sail. Mrs. Maitland and Emily walked on to meet us which quite surprised Mother, the Aunts and Grandma because she was always being ill and walking behind them was Mr. Taylor (the Bank Manager) standing next to Grandma and not bothering about feeding the Ducks was Miss Carter (who wore Pink). She was looking for him and waiting and when we turned to go home he walked in front with her and the year was 1906.' (on the artist's label attached to the reverse)
