PROPERTY FORMERLY FROM WANG TIESHENG, A BRAZILIAN CHINESE COLLECTION (LOTS 1093-1094)This rare collection of Zhang Daqian paintings dates back to the artist’s days in Brazil. The original owner of these works, a Chinese family in Brazil, was acquainted with Zhang Daqian. The two paintings were dedicated to Wang Tiesheng, an important overseas Chinese leader in the Brazilian business community who operated a plastic manufacturing business in Rio de Janeiro in the 1960s. According to the diary of 20th century shipping magnate C. Y. Tung, Wang was a close friend and business partner and previously worked as the representative of Industrial e Comercial Brasileira. When Tung visited Brazil in several occasions in the 1950s, Wang accompanied him in many of his business meetings in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
