The present Il Destriero Scafusia has been fully serviced by IWC in Schaffhausen in 2019. It is under 2-year guarantee and preserved in excellent overall condition. Numbered 124/125 this watch is the penultimate example of the limited edition in yellow gold.

Launched in 1993 to commemorate the 125th anniversary of IWC Schaffhausen, "Il Destriero Scafusia" or "The Schaffhausen Warhorse" was made in a very limited series of only 125 examples each in yellow gold, pink gold and platinum. The last model of the series was complete in December 1999.

The company's and at the time of its release the world’s most complicated wristwatch features the highly decorated, hand-engraved cal. 1868 movement containing 750 individually manufactured and hand-finished mechanical parts and incorporates the impressive number of 21 functions and displays. The case is fitted with a patented repeating slide to protect the movement from dust and moisture. The model’s reference and the movement’s calibre number, 1868, are a tribute to IWC's year of foundation, 1868.

An example of the "Il Destriero Scafusia" is on permanent exhibition at the prestigious IWC Museum in Schaffhausen
