在这幅彼埃·苏拉吉创作的《Peinture 130 x 92 cm, 20 septembre 2003》中，无数条倾斜的笔迹在画布上半部纵横交织，直至被中间的横向平涂区块截断；而下半部则是大片细腻平铺的暖棕色块。此作囊括并呈现了“世界彼方”（Outrenoirs,）系列中所使用的全部技法；该系列是艺术家于一九七九年春开始创作并延续至今的主题。苏拉吉深谙画面中光滑与沟壑纹理的排布组合，在哑光与光泽区域间交替转换，并偶尔加入另一种颜色增强局部的立体感。“世界彼方”系列引领观者跨越界限，进入异国领域，并在框定的画布之外重新思考绘画的意涵。黑色与其说是一种颜色，不如说是一种原始媒材，抑或是光。
