The present timepiece is a highly attractive example of an Eberhard split seconds chronograph wristwatch, distinguished by its, particularly for the period but also still today, large 40 mm. size and the attractive tropical dial. The overall condition of this nearly 80 years old timepiece is excellent, the case has not been subject to careless polishing demonstrated by its full proportions and the sharp edges to the triple stepped bezel. The original dial shows clear gilt scripts creating an appealing contrast with the tropical dial.

The movement, caliber EB 1600 with column wheel, is fitted with a two button split second system. The winding crown button starts, stops and resets the chronograph to zero, the button at 2 o’clock is for the split function and it features the functionality to lock the chronograph by sliding the bottom pusher towards the winding crown.

All in all a superb example of a 1940s split seconds chronograph wristwatch.
