Liudmila Velasco and Nelson Ramirez de Arellano Conde, respectively born in Moscow and Berlin, have been working together for over twenty-five years. In the framework of their collaboration, they explore the theme of “Cuban reality”, having lived in Havana for several years. In 2013, the photographic duo represented Cuba at the Venice Biennale with their series Hotel Havana—striking photocollages that superimpose past and future Cuban landscapes. Enjoy Revolution, 2012-2013, is part of this iconic series.
Liudmila & Nelson's work has been the subject of several retrospectives on the American continent, such as at the Absolut Revolution Le Lieu Art Actuel Center, Quebec City in 2007, and at the Museum of Modern Art in Medellin, Colombia in 2009. Some of their works have also been included in prestigious international collections, such as the Minneapolis Institute or Art (MIA), the Museum of Modern Art of Luxembourg, the WestLicht Schauplätze für Photography in Vienna and the Allison & Peter Rockefeller Collection.
