THREE EXCEPTIONAL RARE CASKS OF SINGLE MALTS FROM THE ADROSS DISTILLERY
The 60,000-acre Ardross Estate was originally bought by the 1st Duke of Sutherland, who built a hunting lodge on the land. After the 2nd Duke sold it off in 1845 to Sir A. Matheson, the Estate became more agriculturally focused as the acreage of arable land was increased by 1875 alongside the population of agricultural tenants. Later, the Estate split, and became fertile grounds for the Ardross Mains Farm. In early 2016, on a quest to find the rarest Scotch Whisky Single Malt stocks, Andrew Rankin, Chief Blender of Bowmore Single Malt fame (a Suntory-owned House) discovered the old Estate alongside the Ardross Mains and started to regenerate the old structures. He gathered a professional development team to restore and convert the 19th century farmhouse. In October 2019 Ardross Distillery produced and filled its first new make spirit, Andrew (the Master Blender) set in place the 25-year maturation strategy and the bespoke cask size, cask type and wood diversity were drafted. The Ardross Single Cask Society was founded in 2020. This rather young history is however not representative of the quality of the Ardross whisky, given the rich past associated with the Ardross Estate as well as the fact that the Ardross Master Distiller, Master Blender & General Operations Manager combine 130 years of industry experience.
This lot offers the buyer the opportunity to own casks with a future delivery of single malt whiskies. These casks are currently maturing at a bonded warehouse at the Ardross Distillery in Scotland. The lot will be sold in bond and will continue to be held in bond for a maximum period of up to 50 years* from the date when the spirit is filled in the casks (*the appropriate maturation time to be advised by Ardross Distillery’s Chief Blender). The lot will be stored, insured and regularly inspected by the Ardross Distillery during this time. Once matured, the spirits will be bottled by Ardross Distillery. Please note, however, that “dry goods” including bottles, corks, closures, outer cases and labels will be at the buyer’s expense. Any costs relating to removal from bond, and any applicable duties and/or taxes will be the responsibility of the buyer.
