The son of an eponymous artist, see lot 120, who worked in the tradition of Cox, T.M. Richardson started his career in Newcastle, sending works to London for exhibition from 1832. He moved to London in 1846 and having been an associate of the Old Watercolour Society in 1843, became a full member in 1851. He made extensive tours of England, Scotland, and the Continent, but Italian subjects remained amongst his favourite.
