A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this watch will be donated to 'Only Watch', to benefit the Association Monégasque contre les Myopathies, for research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Undoubtedly one of the rarest and most attractive versions of F.P. Journe’s ultra-light titanium Octa ‘lineSport’ automatic wristwatches, this visually stunning blue dial model was made in a highly exclusive and very small limited edition of only 8 pieces. Furthermore, to the best of our knowledge, this is the first example of the blue dial edition ever to be offered at international auction.
What immediately captures the attention is the sublimely rich and astonishing deep blue colour of the dial, made in F.P. Journe’s own dial workshops, it has a beauty and depth of blue colour that is quite impossible to adequately put into words. The dials of F.P. Journe’s watches are recognized as some of the finest in the industry and naturally, only perfection will do. Often the depth of colour and finish is achieved by applying multiple layers of lacquer, each layer applied by hand and then polished before the next coat is applied. The deep blue dial of the present Octa Sport is wonderfully contrasted by the white hour numerals red date numerals and the white subsidiary seconds dial which is set within a titanium frame.
The first Octa lineSport wristwatch was created in 2011 with both the cases and movements entirely made of aluminium with the aim of offering ultra-lightweight timepieces able to withstand athletic lifestyles. In 2014, F.P. Journe decided to release the present version with case and bracelet made of titanium which provides the same lightness benefits with increased strength and subtleness to the case whilst at the same time retaining the ultra-lightweight aluminium movement from the original model. The Octa lineSport offers complications including the date, a power reserve for approximately 120 hours, day and night indication as well as small seconds. Remarkably, the present wristwatch weighs a total of approximately 70 grams.

Only Watch was created in 2005 by Luc Pettavino with one intent: raise funds for research on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (a genetic disease that concerns 1 in 3,500 boys and weakens progressively all their muscles and that affected Luc and Monique’s son, Paul) by auctioning one-off timepieces. Since then, thanks to the increasing formidable mobilization of the watch industry and the support of an entire ecosystem, this initiative has become a very awaited biennial rendezvous in the horology calendar for both brands and collectors.
