This variant of a now iconic image of Sir Elton John that graced the cover of his 1974 Greatest Hits album, is one of the most recognizable portraits of the artist. Showing the star confidently poised, the greatest hits album spent ten weeks at number one on the music charts. The photographer Terry O'Neill remarked he was "honored to be asked to take this cover photo - he was the biggest star in the world." Some may argue that he still is.
