A Walk in the Park
signed 'HELEN BRADLEY' and with a fly (lower right), inscribed 'This weekend Father was away visiting Grandpa Blackford/so Mother, George and I went round to have our Sunday/Dinner with Grandma, Aunt Mary and Aunt Frances,/Aunt Mary loved cooking, and had just put on a huge/Yorkshire Pudding in the oven, said, "Goodness, I've cooked/an enormous piece of Beef, and all those Baked Potatoes,/we'll never eat it all, you and George get your hats on,/and go and ask Miss Carter (who wore Pink) if she'll come to/Dinner and bring Mr Taylor also". So they came and we had/a delightful meal. Then everyone washed up quickly and/Mother said, "It's Sunday afternoon, let us go for a walk in/the Park", It was a delightful Sunday afternoon, it was/quiet, except for some boys playing with their hoops./The keeper soon sent them home, while we made our/way to the café, where George and I had a glass of/lemonade whilst the grown ups had tea, then back to/Grandma's for sandwiches and Aunt Mary's shortbread/for which we said "Thank you for a lovely Sunday" and/the year was 1908.' (on a label attached to the reverse)
