Miller's Sea Horizons -- the series initiated in 1976 when he was still in his teens -- are remarkable as his first landscapes for their authority as an extraordinarily mature indicator of the ideas he was to develop over the next thirty years, ideas that he still pursues tenaciously. His subject ultimately is light and its role as a life force -- intangible, and with a mystical power to arouse emotion.
