During Ms. Steel's accomplished career, she has sold more than 580 million copies of her books in the U.S. alone, and is published in 47 countries and 28 languages. Of her 105 published novels, 21 of them have been adapted for television and she has received two Golden Globe nominations. She grew up in Paris and New York and was educated in the French school system. In 2002, the French government bestowed her with the honor of "Officier" of the Order of Arts and Letters for her lifetime contribution to world culture. She is recognized for her philanthropic endeavors, managing two non-profit foundations dedicated to mental illness, homelessness, suicide prevention and child abuse.
