"The term 'reflection' applies to the work of Luis Tomasello in its double meaning: the action and the effect of reflecting and of thinking. Continuing in the line of Mondrian and formed in the rigors of concrete art, Tomasello constructs his reliefs according to a definite scheme, placing geometric bodies in serial order on a square or rectangular support. For additional restriction, the elements and support are white. However, this material base, this volumetric concretion, this corporeal regularity is made lighter and more airy by a luminous atmosphere of incomparable iridiscence. The volumes, enveloped by a chromatic halo, attenuate their boundaries; their facets flatten out, unveiling in chiaroscuro the entire scale of grays, from light to shadow. The work lives, vibrates, varies. Here geometry changes its characteristics; enriches its message; with no loss of rigor, it becomes more sensitive; without expressionism, without personalization, it becomes lyrical; mobilizes us mentally and sensorially."
