PROPERTY OF THE ORIGINAL OWNERS
The following two lots consigned by their original owners are fine examples of the enduring quality and sense of adventure associated with the Rolex brand. Both watches are eyewitness to exploration whether on the peaks of the Grand Tetons or witnessing the first man on the moon. The gentleman who consigned the Explorer II is a Fellow of the Royal Geological Society and Explorers Club. An active mountaineer for over 40 years he has climbed peaks from across the Americas to Europe and Russia.
The gentleman who consigned the Daytona Cosmograph worked with a subsidiary of General Electric-Apollo Division during the important Apollo 11 mission in which Neil Armstrong and Eugene "Buzz" Aldrin became the first men to walk on the moon. The owner was at the forward most site conducting research at the request of Dr. Kurt Debus, then director of the Kennedy Space Center when Apollo 11 lifted off on June 16, 1969 making its historic flight to the moon. Due to the proximity to the launch site, he states that at lift off, "my insides shook hard".
