Bring home an addition to your own personal collection of Contemporary Art, with this unique piece by Sonfist - an artist whose profound environmentally focused work offers a reminder to all of us about our role in saving the environment.
About the Artist:
Sonfist, one of the pioneers of the Land Art movement, has been involved with environmental installations around the world. His works are included at the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This work features soil gathered from the island of Manhattan painted into a minuscule image of our planet. It portrays the need to care for the Earth from a microcosm and macrocosm perspective. It acknowledges that for both systems to thrive, sustainable environments must be the backbone of our cities. The city is a living construct that gives life to both urban and natural ecosystems. This work brings forth the critical need, as we look to the future, for identifying that balance between urban and rural, between manmade and natural.
