VERY RARE BONNES-MARES 1971 FROM DE VOGUE

"Interdiction d'Exporter Aux USA et UK" stamped labels. Two with slight signs of seepage. Two slightly bin-soiled and one creased label. Levels: one 2.4cms, one 2.7cms, two 3cms, three 3.5cms, four 4cms and one 5 cms below base of corks. In original carton
Tasting note: Rich, full, sweet aromas with pronounced secondary nuances followed by structured, tannic flavours that display more than a touch of finishing acidity. This is rustic but not hard and it is quite dramatic in its size and richness. Another recent bottle had distinct notes of caramel and noticeable sous bois and while certainly delicious, was less than profound. I would be drinking up over the next decade as the initial signs of decline are knocking on the door. Multiple and consistent notes. Tasted: Oct 01, 2005. Allen Meadows, Burghound
