This drawing is recorded in the Henry Moore Foundation Archives under no. HMF 2591a.

This drawing comes from the disbanded Prométhée sketchbook, executed by Moore circa 1949-1950. Moore was asked in December 1949 to illustrate Goethe's Prometheus in a French translation by André Gide. He started to work staight away and carried on into early 1950.
