With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the watch with porcelain-white dial with black Roman hour markers in 1991 and its subsequent sale on December 17th, 1991.
This watch was produced for the 150th anniversary of Patek Philippe.
The manufacture of reference 3979, the legitimate successor of reference 2524 (please see lot 3585 in this sale), was launched in 1989 until 2002, with the majority cased in yellow gold. The rarity of this model becomes evident when considering that an annual average of only 8 watches left Patek Philippe's workshops.
It is fitted with the ingenious calibre R 27 PS which impresses not only by its remarkable number of 342 parts but also by Patek Philippe's masterly performance of combining a micro-rotor and a minute repeating mechanism in a proportionally small 12''' movement.
To the best of our knowledge, this watch has never been offered in public before and furthermore stands out by its overall excellent condition.
