Omega created the world's first self-winding central tourbillon wristwatch in 1994 to celebrate the company's 100th anniversary.

The Omega Central Tourbillon was firstly equipped with self-winding caliber 1170 movement and more recently with the caliber 2635 featuring now a co-axial escapement and composed of 320 individual parts. A platinum rotor assures the flawless automatic winding of the movement. The hour and minute hands are painted on two revolving sapphire discs at the edge of the tourbillon, which itself carries the seconds hand.
