In her sculptures, Zarina's obsession with the formal purity takes a three dimensional form retaining the minimalist and lyrical essence of the line. Through the niches in this cast paper sculpture, Zarina addresses the idea of a home, a subject she has continued to deal with in her artistic career. Recalling the step wells seen traditionally in India, Zarina brings in the structural elements of a home within these small spaces, framing them together in a larger square that in turn represents a house--a place of security.
