A son retour de la "Grande Guerre", Tato décide de rejoindre le mouvement Futuriste. Il écrit une lettre à Marinetti, fondateur du mouvement, pour obtenir son approbation. Pour convaincre, il organise ses propres funérailles, sous la forme d'une manifestation futuriste. Il déclare alors que le "Tato Passéiste" est mort et que le "Tato Futuriste" est né. En 1930, il publie en collaboration avec Marinetti le "Manifesto della Fotografia Futurista" qu'il présentera à l'occasion du salon Futuriste de Rome. Ses archives photographiques seront détruites pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
