沈子丞(1904-1996)，原名德堅，別名之淳，號聽蛙翁，浙江嘉興人。早年就職于上海中華書局，任編輯所圖畫部主任。1949年後曾任中共一大紀念館副館長。1957年後一度于蘇州市工藝美術研究所任顧問。1976年曾在江蘇省東台縣(現東台市)工藝品總廠工作。擅長人物、山水，筆墨靜雅，氣格清和。精通畫理，長於鑒賞和圍棋。書法學鐘繇，體勢在隸楷之間，奇崛而有靈氣。曾為上海市文史研究館館員、上海中國畫院畫師。出版有《歷代論畫名著彙編》、《沈子丞書畫集》等。

Shen Zicheng (1904-1996) was a native of Jiaxing, Zhejiang. In early years he worked as an officer in the editorial department of Zhonghua Bookshop in Shanghai. After 1949 he became deputy director of the CPC Memorial. In 1957 he was employed as a consultant at the Institute of Arts and Crafts in Suzhou. In 1976 he worked in the Arts and Crafts Factory in Dongtai, Jiangsu. Shen excelled at both figure and landscape paintings, as well as painting theory, calligraphy, connoisseurship and playing go. In addition, he was once a fellow of the Shanghai Research Institute of Culture and History, and a teacher at the Chinese Painter Institute in Shanghai. Shen also published the Chronicles On Art Masterpieces Series and Paintings and Calligraphy by Shen Zicheng.
