With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 1954 and its subsequent sale on 2 May 1955.
The present watch charms with its elegant look and sensual case shape. This rare vintage timepiece is a collector's item as rarely does an example in pink gold come up for auction. Both pink gold and platinum examples of this reference are rare as the majority of watches were cased in yellow gold.
Reference 1593, which was launched in 1944, is also known amongst collectors as the "hour glass" model due to its streamlined form with its concave and curved sides. A formidable reminder of times past, this classic watch was available until around 1967.
The model is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, second edition, pp. 128 & 129, as well as p. 141.
