With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated 20 December 2006 and an Attestation dated the same day, confirming that the watch was specially created in 2006 to mark the inauguration of the Salons Patek Philippe in Geneva and is part of a limited series of 300 pieces in stainless steel. The Attestation further explains that the tool and dies used to make the limited series have been destroyed, thus ensuring that the reference 5565 in stainless steel will never be produced again. Furthermore delivered with medal with the inscription Inauguration des Nouveaux Salons, Patek Philippe, Geneve, 1939-1892-2006, product information booklet, calibre booklet, tag, Patek Philippe original dark brown presentation box and outer packaging. The lot is also accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with two-tone silvered dial, painted black Arabic numerals in gold with luminous dots in 2006 and its subsequent sale on 21 Decemeber 2006.
The present watch is in as new condition and has never been offered at auction before.
Inspired by Patek Philippe's celebrated reference 565 from 1938, reference 5565 - which was exclusively available in the Geneva Salons - features a stainless steel case and the highly attractive two-tone silvered dial. Reminiscent of dials from the period, it beautifully combines a vertical satin finish centre with applied black nickel-plated gold Arabic and baton numerals. Its movement is the famous calibre 215 PS, developed in the early 1970s and much appreciated by collectors. The design of the sleek case is derived from the famous reference 565, the screw back is decorated with an engraving of Patek Philippe's building on Rue du Rhône and the inscription "1839-1892-2006", commemorating three key dates in the firm's history. The three dates regard the founding of the company in Geneva in 1839, the renovation in 1892 of premises on Rue du Rhône, where the company had moved to some four decade earlier and the restoration and inauguration of the Salons Patek Philippe in 2006 at Rue du Rhône 41.
