US$40,000-60,000
With Rolex fitted presentation box.
This exceptional and extremely rare "Day-Date" is for the first time seen at auction. No literature gives us any information about the existance of such a lavish example until today. Fresh to the market, Christie's is delighted to offer this emerald-set "Oman" dial to the public.
This exquisite watch must be considered as one of the rarest "Day-Date" models to come up for auction in recent years. The combination of features that appear on this reference 1807 from 1958 is hard to beat. This early "Day-Date" delights the Rolex connoisseur with its ultra rare emerald-set indexes and the famous green khanjar dagger emblem.
This piece was only made to special order for the Royal household of the Sultanate of Oman and features the national emblem of Oman, the khanjar dagger in a sheath superimposed upon two crossed swords surmounted by a crown on the dial.
Being not only the "star" lot of this private "Day-Date" collection, this reference 1807 "Oman" provides history, looks, originality and exclusivity.
The present lot is in overall excellent condition and furthermore still retains the orignal Rolex sticker to the case back.
