He also founded the newspaper the Central China Daily and Guang Han Secondary School in Hankou. Yuen moved to Taiwan with his family in 1949 where he worked as the Chief Secretary of the Legislative Council. He met the love of his life Ms. Wu Jinnan in Beijing and despite of the opposition of Wu's family, they eloped and had their first child two years later. After the war they returned to Beijing for a family reconciliation. During their stay in Beijing, the couple met several artists like Qi Baishi and Chen Banding and started acquiring their works.
