Photographies de Richard Avedon issues des archives de la " Famous Photographers School ".
Les six lots suivants sont des tirages originaux dits de référence qui ont permis à Richard Avedon de les reproduire dans les magazines pour lesquels il travaillait comme en témoignent les nombreux tampons.
La qualité exceptionnelle de ces tirages lui a permis de les utiliser à nouveau dans le cadre des cours qu'il dispensait à la Famous Photographers School. Là encore, de nombreux tampons, annotations et instructions apposés au dos en témoignent.
La "Famous Photographers School" crée en 1961, fût active jusqu'à sa fermeture en 1974. Outre Richard Avedon, de nombreux photographes y ont participé, parmi lesquels: Richard Beattie, Arthur d'Arazien, Joseph Costa, Alfred Eisensdtadt, Harry Garfield, Phillipe Halsman, Irving Penn, Bert Stern et Ezra Stoller.

The following six lots are original prints of the type - known today as 'engraver's prints' or 'publication prints' - made as masters for reproduction of the images in the magazine for which Avedon worked. Most bear stamps and annotations testifying to such usage.
The present prints enjoyed a secondary use by Avedon in the context of his participation as a teacher in the lessons structured and presented by the Famous Photographers School. The prints bear the stamped and inscribed details of their use within the lesson programme.
The Famous Photographers School was established and ran until its closure in 1974. The photographer's actively involved, besides Avedon, comprised: Richard Beattie, Arthur d'Arazien, Joseph Costa, Alfred Eisensdtadt, Harry Garfield, Phlippe Halsman, Irving Penn, Bert Stern, and Ezra Stoller.
