Swiss-born John Armleder is a performance artist, sculptor, and painter, whose multi-faceted activities are concerned with all the ways it is possible to make works disappear, a dry almost academic approach to art. Affiliated with the Fluxus movement in the late 1960s and 70s, the value of ephemerality and belief that art is the conduction of creative energy form the basis of his work. In each of his creations, Armleder kindles Kineticism, a sense movement, individual to each of his works, an element that impacts all of its surroundings. Change of light and also of perspective is a constant and reoccurring theme within Armleder’s works and through the use of mirrors it is more than ever apparent in the present lot.
