安迪•沃荷的“瀕 危物種”系列源於沃荷一次與委託人Ronald Feldman間有關海岸侵蝕生態問題的討論。沃荷對動物的好奇心促使他欣然接受Feldman的委託，以絲網印刷版畫呈現10種瀕危物種。作品用色鮮豔，造型生動，沃荷形容此為“化妝動物”。 此動物系列與其他以瑪麗蓮•夢露，伊莉莎白•泰勒和穆罕默德•阿裡為題的著名絲網印刷版畫一樣，帶有普普藝術色彩風格，動物被塑造明星一樣，如名人般散發著不朽耀眼的光芒。
