Of clipped arch form, surmounted by a cross, the hinged covers opening to reveal an icon of Christ as Salvator Mundi, flanked by Saint Catherine and Saint Alexander, all within lavishly decorated silver-gilt mounts, cloisonné and champlevé enamelled with varicolour foliage and geometric motives, the cover cast and chased with two cherubs, Annunciation scene, and four apostles, all within cloisonné enamelled borders, the reverse dated and inscribed in Russian ‘[To] Oskar Kazimirovich / Gripenberg / from the Vilno Military District / 1904’, with a suspension loop, marked throughout
