Through his use of common materials, the Norwegian artist Fredrik Vaerslev examines the relationship between abstraction, representation, and ornamentation. Within the confines of an uncomplicated medium of spray paint on linen and simple geometric compositions, he challenges the monotony of the monochrome. He explores the role of deviation and chance with his work as he leaves his pieces outside to be affected and aged by the weather, a process through which they gain a premature history and develop their own narratives.
