Hans Konrad Escher von der Linth war nicht nur bekannt als Maler, sondern vor allem war er Bauingenieur und zuständig für die Regulierung des Flusses Linth. Sein Sohn Arnold Escher von der Linth wurde Professor für Geologie am Polytechnikum (heute ETH Zürich), sein Enkel Arnold Bürkli tat sich als Zürcher Stadtingenieur insbesondere mit Seeuferbauten hervor und ihm zu Ehren wurde der Bürkliplatz benannt.
Hans Konrad Escher von der Linth was not only famous as a painter, but he was also a civil engineer who was responsible for channelling the flow of the Linth River. His son, Arnold Escher von der Linth, became a Professor of Geology at the Polytechnical College (now known as the ETH) in Zurich, and, his grandson, Arnold Bürkli, who was an engineer employed by the City of Zurich, distinguished himself through his lakeshore constructions and in whose honour Bürkliplatz is named.
