Akae saibyo is a style of Kutani ware decorated in very fine red lines and was first developed in the late Edo period at Sano in present-day Ishikawa prefecture. Fukuyama Buzan is the master of this technique and has won numerous prestigious awards since 1982, including the Japan Traditional Art prize from the Prime Minister and presented the Emperor and Empress with two bowls. His other works are in the collections of Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Art, Narukawa Art Museum and Kiyomizu Sannenzaka Museum.
