« Mes tableaux considérés comme les plus abstraits auront été pour moi, les plus figuratifs au sens propre du terme. A l’inverse, est-ce que ces peintures dont on croit lire le sujet d’emblée - les oies, les hiboux, les orignaux - ne sont pas plus abstraites que le reste ? Abstrait : ‘abstraction’, ‘tirer de’, ‘faire venir de’... ma démarche est inverse. Je ne tire pas de la nature, je vais vers la nature. »
