These inventive sauceboats are inspired by examples by Paul de Lamerie - a pair formerly in the collection of Peggy and David Rockefeller (Christie's, New York, 9 May 2018, lot 171) and a set of four in the Cahn Collection (E. Alcorn, Beyond the Maker’s Mark Paul de Lamerie Silver in the Cahn Collection, Michigan, 2006. pp. 71-72). Another pair in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (2001.53.2). The model owes much to the auricular designs of Adam van Vianen and his son Christian.
