Jan Lopienski (1838–1907) studied in Vienna and Paris and founded a bronze workshop in Warsaw in 1862. He was awarded a silver medal at the 1878 Paris Exposition universelle for a bronze balustrade commissioned for the palace of Count Jan Zawisza in Warsaw. Jan Lopienski was succeeded by his sons Grzegorz (1863-1939) and Felix (1866-1941), who took over their father’s business.
