Offered here for the first time at auction, this all platinum watch is an extremely rare variant of the celebrated reference 5004. To the best of our knowledge, it is only the third example known publically fitted with the impressive and heavy solid platinum Patek Philippe bracelet. The black and white colour combination of case, bracelet and dial bestows a cool elegance to this highly complicated model. Made in 2009, the final year of production, in 2017 this watch was sent to Patek Philippe at the special request of the owner and fitted with the present semi-glossy black dial with white gold sword indexes and the highly impressive solid platinum bracelet. This almost certainly unique upgrade was carried out with no expense spared to achieve the desired effect. Both the dial and bracelet are reassuringly confirmed by the Extract from the Archives as being fitted by the Patek Philppe manufacture.

Reference 5004
Introduced in 1994, Patek Philippe's reference 5004 was in production only until 2009. Available in all three colours of gold, platinum and a later series in steel, this perpetual calendar chronograph watch remains particularly desirable to collectors because it features a split second complication. Recognizable by its prominent oversized co-axial crown, it was, along with the chronograph-only reference 5070, the last of Patek Philippe’s complicated watches to use an outsourced caliber base, in this instance Nouvelle Lemania, which was specially developed for Patek Philippe and finished in their workshops.
