本幅創作於1945年，是本‧尼科爾森在二戰最後一年，於聖艾夫斯創作的重要靜物系列之一。環環相扣的幾何形態，以簡單物體的輪廓線強調，用原色與更自然樸實的色調並置，創造出抽象造型與具象寫實的二分法。在《靜物》一作中，尼克爾森在他康沃爾工作室的現實環境中探索抽象領域。
