Artist's Resale Right ("Droit de Suite"). 《嘉年華與大齋節》是色彩與律動的浩瀚煙火，代表了塞西麗・布朗無與倫比的油彩掌控能力。受到老彼得．布勒哲爾(Pieter Brueghel)1559年的傑作《嘉年華與大齋節之間的爭鬥》的啟發，其2.5米長的畫布創造了一個無所不包的色彩世界，暗示著人物與形體被如大裡石般模糊的顏料漩渦所纏結；頭、四肢與身體的片段通過一連串的分散和攪動，從一個瞬間到另個一瞬間的過度都融化並凝聚了起來。作品溫暖的赤陶色、如內臟的暗紅色以及淡淡的薰衣草和藍綠色調呼應了布勒哲爾的調色板，將他鳥瞰人群的景象轉化為身臨其境的抽象能量。布勒哲爾在一場鬧劇中描繪了嘉年華國王和大齋節(分別代表醉酒的慾望與精神紀律)的象徵，將他的構圖在旅館的主顧和位於荷蘭城鎮廣場兩側的教堂之間進行了劃分。他的作品充滿樸實幽默、俏皮細節和錯綜複雜的象徵意義。粗俗詼諧與修道院的拘謹之間的衝突使其成為布朗實踐創作的合適對象，這樣的創作從抽象與形象化之間的張力中汲取了生動的生命力。
