在這幅彼埃·蘇拉吉創作的《Peinture 130 x 92 cm, 20 septembre 2003》中，無數條傾斜的筆跡在畫布上半部縱橫交織，直至被中間的橫向平塗區塊截斷；而下半部則是大片細膩平鋪的暖棕色塊。此作囊括並呈現了“世界彼方”（Outrenoirs,）系列中所使用的全部技法；該系列是藝術家於一九七九年春開始創作並延續至今的主題。蘇拉吉深諳畫面中光滑與溝壑紋理的排布組合，在啞光與光澤區域間交替轉換，並偶爾加入另一種顏色增強局部的立體感。“世界彼方”系列引領觀者跨越界限，進入異國領域，並在框定的畫布之外重新思考繪畫的意涵。黑色與其說是一種顏色，不如說是一種原始媒材，抑或是光。
