自1960年代末期型號1463停產以來，5070便成為百達翡麗出產的第一款純計時腕錶。在1998年甫推出時僅有黃金版本，其後在2001年及2003年先後推出白金及紅金版，由2008年起僅製作鉑金版。
每種金屬版本各生產約1000枚，而鉑金版本則只有500枚。
