SIGNED BREGUET, NO. 3894, SOLD ON MARCH 1938 TO MONSIEUR BORIS FOR THE SUM OF 33'800 FRANCS

Combining superb aesthetics with high complication, this substantial and very appealing gold minute repeating calendar chronograph is preserved in excellent overall condition, this masterpiece pays tribute to Abraham Louis Breguet's horological legacy. It combines past and modern watchmaking in a most harmonious way and is a stunning example of the House of Breguet’s 20th century watchmaking.

The unusual and very beautiful layout of the silvered dial allows the display of several complications in an elegant and easily readable way. The power reserve is in the form of a sector at the top and below is the ‘digital’ perpetual calendar in linear form with days of the week, date and month indications. The hours and minute chapter ring is placed in the lower half of the dial and the aperture for the moon phases within. The chronograph is the dominant function, the two hands which give the impression of a split-seconds chronograph are in fact a single hand for the chronograph and one for the 60-minute register.

The Breguet Certificate states that watch no. 3894 was sold to Monsieur Boris on 31st March 1938. Monsieur Boris is perhaps Georges Boris (1888-1960), the French politician, journalist and economist and former counsellor to Charles de Gaulle.
