The Patek Philippe, Ref. 5231J, continues the longstanding tradition of peak artisanal craftsmanship with their introduction of the present model in 2019. The 5231J combines the traditional craftsmanship of a world time movement with the exquisite artistry of a cloisonné enamel dial.

Patek Philippe’s relationship with world time wristwatches and cloisonné enamel dials, harkens back to their Reference 1415. A world time wristwatch introduced in the 1940s, with some examples featuring a variety of extremely beautiful cloisonné enamel dials. The 1415 would later be replaced by the Reference 2523, an inspiration for the case of the timepiece.

The Reference 5231J is an updated version of the previous model, Reference 5131J. The Reference 5231J is updated with a larger bezel and faceted lugs that are reminiscent of the 2523 in every way.
