Lucie Cousturier was a student of Paul Signac and friendly with several of the other original members of the Neo-Impressionist group, such as Henri-Edmond Cross and Maximilien Luce. She employed the divisionist technique favored by her teacher and colleagues, applying small rectangular strokes of bright pigment to create her compositions. Most of her paintings were done near the Côte d'Azur. She frequently exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants in Paris.
